Wilhelmshavener Kinderhilfe (children's aid) society

Wilhelmshavener Kinderhilfe, a society founded in 1972, offers educational and therapeutic help to children and young people with and without disabilities in order to promote independence and integration. This help includes early support, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and learning therapy.

The power plant in Wilhelmshaven has been supporting the Wilhelmshavener Kinderhilfe society since 2006, and as a result of this cooperation they were able to establish the "Frühchentreff" (premature baby meeting) in 2007. This offers the chance to exchange experiences and helps to promote mutual support. The meeting is attended by a special education expert from Wilhelmshavener Kinderhilfe and a doctor from the premature baby ward at the Reinhard Nieter hospital.
In the same year the Wilhelmshavener Kinderhilfe Wiki Südstern day care center constructed a dune play area next to the Banter lake. Due to spatial restrictions, it had not been possible to offer the children sufficient space to play outside. With the donation it was possible to start using the dune play area as an outdoor activity space. It is intended to offer the children the chance to let off some steam in nature, and to bring the environment closer to home.

It was also possible to introduce the project "Movement - Language - Nutrition" in 2008. It is specifically aimed at socially disadvantaged parents and children from a migration background.

Wendepunkt GmbH

The "Wendepunkt" is an organization from the Wilhelmshaver Kinder and Jugendhilfe (Wilhelmshaven Children's and Youth Support). Since 1996 they have been advising and supporting around 150 children, youths and young adults, in some cases along with their single parents, through the use of crisis intervention, social group work, assistance for the parents in bringing up their children and social-educational family support.

The power plant in Wilhelmshaven has been a partner of Wendepunkt since 2009 and has already supported several projects. Among these is the project "Food for Kids", which provides lunch for school children in socially deprived areas. In addition the power plant's help in 2010 made it possible to install a multi-sensory room for the children and youths being supported. Employees from the power plant have twice acted as sponsors at Christmas time for the families at the Wendepunkt. One such campaign involved purchasing Christmas gifts and the other saw Christmas trees being chopped down and delivered to the families.

The City of Wilhelmshaven

In 2010 and the power plant donated towards the first barrier-free playground in the city, upon which children with and without disabilities are able to play together.
Project aiming to prevent youth crime have also been supported by the power plant in 2011.

In addition, many of the power plant's employees dedicate themselves voluntarily to societies and organizations.
